Biz Tuesday: Tax lady forgets taxes

By September 18, 2012Blog
This? Is a true story. I, the Tax Lady (not the name I chose for myself!), forgot to do my Quarter 1 business retail taxes.I KNOW, RIGHT? WHAT IS MY PROBLEM?

Well, this is my problem: In April, I did my yearly, personal taxes, which includes reporting income for businesses. April is when Quarter 1 retail taxes are due, as well.

In the general chaos and disarray of doing my Big Taxes, I simply forgot to do my retail taxes. Oops.

What to do? What to do? Well, if this ever happens to you, do what I did:

Do your damn taxes. That day.

It’s not the end of the business world! You aren’t the first to forget, and neither am I. There is simply a penalty to pay for being a huge dork. Look at the directions on the little packet they send you, compute the penalty, and pay it. It’s really no big deal. The gub’mint wants their money–they aren’t going to come knocking on your door for forgetting.

Once again, don’t panic! Just know that you are not alone in your gooberness. It happens to the best of us.
