Kelly grew up in Boulder, and now lives in Golden, CO with her super cute husband, Craig, and her three food-obsessed labs, Caffrey, Kalik and Zonker. Kelly started making her all-natural soaps back in 1995, to avoid the harsh, drying chemicals that are used in mass-produced commercial products. With time, more and more friends and family started requesting new “flavors” – and her soap room started to fill up. To avoid being buried alive in natural skin-care products, Craig urged Kelly to start selling her products to the general public. Thus, Spinster Sister was born.
Craig and Kelly make a concerted effort in their personal lives to live in a natural, sustainable fashion and that focus has overflowed to the business operation. Natural ingredients are the key to Spinster Sisters products – including locally produced ingredients whenever possible. Natural exfoliants such as lavender and calendula flowers, mint leaves, hemp seed, coffee grounds, and oatmeal are used in all of our soaps. All of our products use base ingredients such as coconut, olive, castor, sweet almond, avocado, jojoba and sustainable palm oils, as well as fair-trade Shea Butter purchased from direct from the small woman-owned businesses in Ghana (www.globalmamas.org). We even offer an all-natural pet soap – Dirty Dawgy – for our 4 legged friends.
Spinster Sisters uses simple, recycled/recyclable packaging, to reduce waste and save resources, and our operation is powered by solar energy.
