Biz Tuesday: Summer Horseshoe applications & application tips!

By March 13, 2012Blog

We wanted to use this post to talk about Horseshoe Market applications and craft show applications in general. We’ve already chosen vendors for the Spring Market on May 5th! You are all in for a treat—we’ve got some really fantastic artists, designers, crafters and vintage sellers. We will be unveiling our Spring Featured Vendors in the coming weeks!

This Sunday, March 18th, applications for the Summer Market (July 14th) open on our website! Summer applications are open through April 8th.  All are welcome to apply—those in the Spring Market, those on the waiting list, and those of you who’ve never applied to the Horseshoe!

Here are a few commonly asked questions about our application process:

If I applied to the Spring Market, do I have to apply again to Summer and Fall?

Yes! We are accepting applications for each market one at a time. In our efforts to ensure a diverse and extremely high quality group of vendors, we have three application cycles. By staggering application deadlines, we are able to accept vendors new to the scene as well as seasoned vendors who are coming out with new products!

Can I get into multiple markets?

Yes, but we cannot guarantee acceptance due to the high volume of applicants we receive. Our hope is that each market is a unique shopping experience. Each market will be filled with a mix of new vendors and familiar faces!

Craft Fair Application Tips

As we all know, Colorado is home to lots of incredible markets, fairs and festivals. Sometimes, like at the Horseshoe, spots are limited. We thought we’d provide you with a few tips that can help you as you submit your application to the Horseshoe and other markets around the state and country.

  • Fill out application in full! Many markets will simply discard incomplete applications.
  • Website links and photos: If your main website is a blog with a small link to your Etsy store, many juries would rather you send the Etsy shop directly. Sometimes it’s hard to really see your products on your blog.
  • Make sure your website and pictures accurately reflect the quality of your work, and what you plan to sell at the market.
  • Use new pictures when you apply! Just because you got into a market last year with certain pictures doesn’t mean you should just attach those same pictures. Market organizers and juries are looking for fresh product!

And speaking of photos, stay tuned for our blog post on Thursday! Kara Lundquist, Horseshoe’s assistant market director, will be posting on how to make the most of your product photos on applications and on your website!
